The North and South Johnstone Rivers begin their journey in the Atherton Tablelands, making their way through steep volcanic gorges and world heritage rainforests to their junction on the coastal plains at Innisfail. The rivers have a combined high rain fall catchment area of about 1,600 square kilometres at Innisfail.
Visitors can explore the natural beauty of the river via the Fitzgerald Esplanade Parkland adjacent to the river. Public toilets, seating and barbeques are provided for your enjoyment by the Cassowary Coast Regional Council.
